Even old new york was once new amsterdam

why'd they change it, i cant say, guess people liked it better that way! oh take me back to constantinople! actually, NO, i do not want to go to istanbul. as im sure you already know, the house democrats are pushing a bill that would label the armenian slayings in turkey during WWI as a "genocide" and hence have greatly offended the turkish government over this and i say...

what the hell is wrong with you nancy pelosi?!?? what the hell is wrong with all those democrats up on capital hill?!?!!? this house resolution will DESTROY any relations we have with turkey and they dont care about this. you should care about this. turkey is a great ally of ours, and it occupies a unique position. part of it is in europe and the other part is in asia, and because of this they want to join the EU. it was the crossroads of the ancient world dating back to Emperor Justinian of Byzantium until finally in 1453 when the ottomans took the city and ended western influence in it. this is when turkey became predominantly muslim.

turkey is our supply line in the iraq war, but even more importantly its an ALLY IN THE MIDDLE EAST. it is true america, we do have allies in the world! this damn iraq war has alienated us from a lot of countries in the world, but turkey has remained steadfast pro-american UNTIL NOW. turkey is growing into a powerhouse. today it may seem like an insignificant country that we can push around, nancy pelosi, but you watch out. when you are dead and gone and people like me are in charge, turkey will be a swing country when massive nuclear war breaks out.

we are already alienating russia from us with this missile defense system that poland and the czech republic DONT NEED. WE NEED IT. not them! russia is greatly insulted by this and we are now insulting turkey as well. whats wrong with washington? we cant go on in life unilaterally. we need allies, and (getting back to my original topic heh) the house is digging up demons of the past to haunt us once again.

ya'no what, i know turkey had a genocide. i read a book about it and ive researched it a bit. but u know what, im sorry. im sorry people died. im sorry people suffered. i seriously wish i could snap my fingers and all the suffering in the world will go away. unfortunately i cannot do that so why create more? turkey should come to terms with its past but now is not the time for such a measure to go through the house. bush will veto anything that gets out, but it is the very act of passing it that is insulting the turks.

mark my words. do not insult the turks. we will regret it. abandon the bill and help the future of america. or you can continue to be a short sighted humanist who wishes to expose the faults and weaknesses of others rather than use that time in congress to work on your own problems. just a thought.
