05-06 Year in Review

Sophomore year is done. Im halfway done with high skool. Man, it doesnt feel like it. Still feels like beginning of the year and yet its all over and done. Btw, I typed this up in word so I wouldnt lose it so that will explain the proper grammar and mechanics errr somewaaaahhtt lol.

Ill start out by doin an in-depth review of each of my classes. (any DGS administrators reading this these are editorial opinions of a VERY biased student and shouldnt be taken seriously at all. These are just my random ramblings about how the skool would be better)

Ancient and medieval history well, to quote mr may on this one, I got the highest grade in a class of all juniors and all seniors. Up yours biotches. Jk lol. I loved this class so much. Mr may is probably the best ss teacher that ive seen at DGS so far. The guy is a freakin descendant of William the conqueror and all those English kings. Once u get past those 68 million other people, hes next in line for the BRITISH THRONE. Gosh thats amazing. I wish I had a cool family. So yeah I learned a hell of a lot from this class, and it really showed me that the cliché is true. History really does repeat itself. If bush had learned his medieval history, hed see what happens when we invade the land of islam (10 crusades. We conquered Jerusalem and all of the middle east and set up feudal governments there. Dont worry, everything reverted back to the way it was before in 200 years.)

Chemistry. Meh. Not much to say bout this one. Average ordinary class. Boyle and following the rules go together like peanut butter and jelly. Cant say that I learned that much except those damn sig figs..

Health/drivers ed. Health was probably the biggest waste of my time this whole year. Dont smoke. Eat nutritious foods. Dont fuck anyone til yer married. Yeah yeah yeah, we did all this about 100x before and OF COURSE everyone listens and takes this GOOD advice to heart. *cough cough* drivers ed was another waste of time. And I find it interesting that we teach each other half the material via group presentations. Hmmm rather convenient de department. Meh at least I have my license guaranteed. (Ill get it when my dad chooses to take me to the dmv. Cross yer fingers)

AAT. Meh, started out as an easy class. Very easy. Seriously, until chapter 11 or 12 (the one with the unit circle thing) I put forth 65% effort. And I liked the hw policy. U do it and show some work, u get full points. Now she has some new policy for next year with hw quizzes. SUCKS TO BE U INCOMING AAT 400 STUDENTS!!!! I bsed half the assignements and waltzed out with like a 95% first semester. Then we did the unit circle and trig graphs and probability and I hated all that. Although the day with the roulette board was fun (until I betted everything on lucky number 27 :D)

English. Damn. I must say that this was my hardest class of the year from sep to march. march to june it was math. I mean, last year I did little work and I learned nothing and I got an A both semesters and quite frankly my dear I didnt give a damn. This year mrs thornquist did her job as a teacher very well. We did house on mango street (2 thumbs down) Montana (2 thumbs up) catcher in the rye (3 thumbs up) gender unit (1 up and 1 down) huck finn (1 up 1 down) and Gatsby (1 up and 1 down) The end of the year was really rushed so it kinda sucked when we hadta read AND TEXTMARK (I shall do a rant about this in October or whenever the hell we do it next year) like 60 pages a nite for huck finn. Gatsby was probably the hardest book. I mean, the symbolism for the other books came ez to me, but this one I actually hadta think and it didnt help that we had little discussions about it. (haha I just typed in about tit. Yes im very amusing :P) but yeah, we did analytical papers and all which sucked, but I guess its prep for next years English and after that and after that I must say that the mix of our class was really great. I mean, 4 guys and 20 girls is nothing to sneeze at haha. Yea I was one of the few people who regularly participated in our discussions, but I didnt really mind. And naturally u had to find sumthin to disagree with me about kyle. I mean, I dont think either of us would be happy unless we could disagree about sumthin. So yeah, I learned a lot, and I think my writing improved a lot over the course of English.

Lunch/study hall/lunch. Uh first semester lunch I dont remember much lol. It was awesome havin chris and arjun and noel and the rest at the table. Just like old times (except u noel lol) I remember we had many debates when lunch got boring (which it usually does) study hall nuthin to say about. Waste of my time which could be better spent looking at pics of emma Watson I mean uh practicing math problems.. second lunch was a lot of fun. Val, u are one crazy kid. Thats all I gotta say lol. And of course chris ks line in my yearbook is priceless. I learned a lot about Jesus. Lmfao yes when we were not A. talking bout hot girls B. eating or C. doin hw thats due the next period (please note my order of importance) we would discuss religion. It was interesting cuz we had a good mix of religions at our table including an atheist. Its always funny seein an atheists expression when u say that evolution is bullshit. (which it is)

Us history. My gosh. My gosh. My gosh. BEST FRIGGIN CLASS OF MY FUCKIN LIFE. I remember my quote to chris at the beginning of the year this class has everyone and that it truly did. I mean, throw in Justin and eric, and its the perfect class. Btw, liberals, Justin and eric wouldve been on OUR side oh oh oh. Yes, our class was divided down the middle. Right = republicans and kat, Left = speechers and liberals, Center = undecided/dont care. Those were some good times. Remember the mary dyer debate? Haha I think its my fault that we never had debates after that cuz yasee, we got a heated discussion and pretty soon everyones yellin at me, but I HAD THE FRIGGIN FLOOR so I gotta like yell over them. Naturally, chochole didnt do one damn thing then. In fact, he ENCOURAGED us. The next day he was all pissed off and went over the differences between a debate, discussion, and argument like were two year olds. Not cool, Jim (it would be funny if mr chochole actually saw that lol) but other than that, mr chochole just plain pwned as a teacher. Probably the coolest teacher in the skool (sry gales, but yer an evolutionist and sry mr may but uhh sry lol) even tho he was a liberal. It was funny cuz it was SOOO obvious and yet he never admitted it. Plus, hes the only person I know who owns, thats right, an actual model t ford from 1921. I loved that class so much (errr not the work, I just liked all the people in it and chochole rocked as a teacher as stated earlier.) im so gonna miss it. Too bad we could never have an all-out debate. If u guys feel like havin one on an aim chat, let me know. Im always ready for a good abortion, gay rights, immigration rights, anything else u can think of, debate. Good times in that class. Very good times. Am I right or am I right?

Spanish iii, was ok I guess. Sra howe was really nice except whenever I tried to do other hw in her class. Geez, I finished all my classwork so I figured I culd use that time productively, but no she made a big deal out of it on all occasions in front of the whole class so w/e. probably my favorite part of the class was the two skits we did. YA ICH KANN DEUTSCH SPRECHEN DU DICKER KLEINEN SCHWEIN! GESUND LEBE DEUTSCHLAND!!! Dont bother, putting that in a translator. I probably misspelled it lol. Kudos go out to eric for giving that to me! Woot woot! And of course la catrina 16 just plain rocked with Justine, molly, and Kelsey. U three r so awesome!!! It was nice fourth quarter sitting next to greg cuz we talked pretty much the whole period and naturally senora didnt care cuz she loved me so lol.

Pony express was just plain amazing, and we are all gonna miss u Melissa!!! I dunno how the leadership will be next year or even how the paper will be. I guess well just have to wait and see. Key club was awesome as well. I wish I couldve done more this year, but the problem was that my boss needed me at the library on thrusdays cuz her other pages couldnt work then so I HADTA be there. I think it pissed sauer off greatly that I left early at like every meeting, but hey, it was either listen to lame jokes and get fired or do as much as I can until 4 then go to work then come home late at nite then do hw and oh yeah sleep and eat. Snowball definitely was one of the best experiences ive had this year. I plan on attending the fall snowball as a participant, but I think Ill try for leader in the winter one. Everyone let me know if yer coming to snowball or not. After all, the bigger group u have, the more fun it is.

School bowl we went to Peoria. That was pretty amazing. I mean, pekin, Illinois (ok it took me 4 tries to get my own states name spelled correctly. My brain is dead during the summer :D) was just like mayberry from andy Griffith. If anyone besides me has seen it lol. We always have the tv on while eating dinner, and whenever my mom gets to pick what to watch, she picks that. Haha yeah, were like the simpsons when we eat. Go in, watch tv, say nothing, walk out. Back on track. We placed 8th in state. There were 8 teams there. But hey, it was fun going there, and after all, being ranked 8 out of EVERY high skool in our beautiful state is nothing to sneeze at. (yeah thats my phrase of the week) im captain of varsity next year (if all goes as planned) so anyone interested in playing a fun game that resembles jeopardy, but actually is a lot funnier leave a comment. Its not what u think it is. If it was, I wouldnt be on it :P

In conclusion, I would like to quote my friend rahul, high skool really isnt that bad cuz u end up enjoying a third of it I think this quote really is true. Sure, the tests sucked. Sure, the hw sucked. Sure, the finals, quizzes, projects, essays, EVERY OTHER FRIGGIN INVENTION BY TEACHERS sucked, but hey I met some really great people this year and I intend to continue doin that all throughout high skool and then college. Gosh. Two more years and then im in college. I cant believe it. Dammit I just cant believe it
