Fall Snowball 2005. one of the most amazing experiences of my life. everyone our age has got to go snowball and im gonna nag you people to come to the winter/next fall one. and trust me, it is not what the stereotypes say it is.
the bus ride there was pretty boring, but it really picked up when i got there. i was in group FUCHSIA. YEAH FUCHSIA RULES! just hadta add there for all the other people out there who think their group is the best. ha. and btw, real guys wear fuchsia.
our leaders were ashley and samantha, two pretty awesome girls. the teacher was mr wu (wugazer sp? lol) i called him mr w because i've inherited my dad's ability to screw up and butcher names very badly lol. other group members = greg go, austin, emily, nicole, katie, brianna, brittany, evelyn, jaqui, and i think thats it.
the workshops were so awesome. from stress management and sleeping to the trust sit. (we so got the best trust sit. 90 degrees rite on the money!) and of course the team-building activities, running through the jump rope and passing all those hula hoops through. 1 minute 14 seconds, boo yeah!
the guest speakers and the skits performed were really great. the aaim speakers really got through by showing the two sides of the alcoholic coin, the drunk driver victim and the drunk driver. although, a different drunk driver wuld've been better. they had the exception to the rule, the guy who only served 62 days in jail after he killed a woman while drunk. it wuld've been more effective if they brought in a guy who was in jail for years and years, but w/e it was still good.
ah, and who could forget the group dances? greg go was the best napoleon dynamite in that entire snowball place, hands down. he shuldve won. eh, it was still a blast. the food there was ok i guess. the best was day two lunch with the personal pizzas. and day one supper chidken/turkey/sum kind of poultry was just plain nasty. i mean, that gravy was sick, culdn't they have had soy sauce or sumthin? the breakfast was pretty good with the french toast and the chicken at day two dinner was pretty good.
my cabin was awesome with senor topor. he forced us to shut the lights off at 11:45, but we were still goin strong after that. as one guy put it, " i bet we're doing more socializing than the girls." definitely lol. i probably fell asleep sumtime after 12:30 and that was cuz i got up before 6.
i know im skipping around but who really cares lol. the night was pretty kool, altho there was strangely a lack of animals for a forest. once, i was walkin around the trails at like 11 and i saw someone in front of me. i was following them and it turned out to be my shadow :D haha yea it was hilarious. what really amazed me at the camp was the number of stars out. a group of us wen to the field past the cabins and were stargazing and there were a ton of stars out. i mean, i could actually see cignus the swan. the big dipper was pretty faint, but it was there.
and who could forgot ride RIDE RIDE RIDE THE PONY! and of course, Irish tag. i got 6 grass stains from that Irish tag game in the dark :) i rode the pony i believe 5 times, or was it 4? u kinda lose count lol.
the thing i liked most about snowball was the freedom you had. wake up whenever you want. do w/e u want. tons of free time, write a bunch of warm fuzzies. and who doesnt love getting a piece of brightly colored yarn?
some of the activities that we did were very sad and very moving. cross the line was the hardest activity by far that we ever did. you cannot understand unless you did it, but a kid passed out while crossing the line. it was that emotional. i'll leave it at that.
fuchsia skit was THE BEST DAMN SKIT THERE! "we lost our food, supplies, and everythign else on this plane. but i have great news! i just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to GEIKO! go GEIKO!" lol such good times. we did a parody of lost and our show was entitled "not so found" it was reminiscent of lord of the flies where a group of us crash-landed on an island inhabited by savages. "sharkbait ooo haha" "well i aint sayin shes a gold-digger" we had to include a bunch of quotes in there and those were sum of ours. we all did an awesome job.
and btw, if you think that yer too cool to do the chicken dance in front of 250 people, then i dont think that snowball is for you ;) altho we had our own version of it. i dont wanna be pink, i dont wanna be purple, i just wanna be fuchsia! *clap clap* heck yeah!
the bus ride home was pretty interesting lol. i sat with kyle and he fell asleep after like 10 mins. so instead me, arjun, tim, caitlin, and brittany were talkin. and of course show us how you shake your thing. yea. very good times.
in short, snowball is a great way to get to know yourself and those around you a little better. i recommend that all DGSers should go to snowball because it is an amazing experience that you are guaranteed never to forget. monday morning. 7:20. cafetorium. be there snowballers.
in other news, i cleaned out my buddy list for aim. finally got rid of a bunch of old sns and have room for new ones :) and happy 50th blog everyone! this'll be blog number 80 on my website, but myspace is cooler.
